How to Draw an Almond in 4 Easy Steps
This quick tutorial shows how to draw an almond in just four steps. The example is of the almond seed without the shell.

The example drawing is a of as shelled almond. It’s main focus is on showing an easy way of giving the almond it’s characteristic shape and texture.
Although this is a very simple guide that does not require any erasing it’s still recommended that you start it in pencil just in case you make a mistake. Draw light lines until you have all parts of the almond outlined and darken them before coloring.
Step 1 – Draw the Main Outline of the Almond

First draw the outline of the almond’s main shape. Make it pointier towards one end, wider towards the middle and rounded on the other end.
For this stage of the drawing leave the tip on it’s pointy end open.
Step 2 – Draw the Tip

Onto the open end of the outline from the previous step draw the little bump of the tip. Give it a rounded end and make it slightly wider as it goes towards the almond’s main shape.
Step 3 – Add the Texture & Finish the Line Drawing

A simple outline drawing of an almond looks a little plain. Fix this by giving it some texture as shown in the above example.
Create the almond’s texture by drawing curves of varying length running along it’s surface. Add the curves in a way where they somewhat flow along the almond’s shape and draw the ones near edges closer together than those near the center. This will help show the curvature of the seed’s shape and will make the drawing look a little less flat.
Define the curves with slightly wobbly/wavy lines and make them of different length. Draw some fairly long while other as just a small dashes. Also, leave little gaps in a few of the lines. Drawing in such a way will help give the texture a natural look.
Once done adding the texture lines confirm that you are happy with the way your drawing looks (make any corrections if needed) and trace over your lines with a black pen or marker. If you don’t happen to have one handy simply darken them with the pencil.
Step 4 – Color the Almond

To color the almond you can just make it brown (optionally with just a bit of yellow in it). Colored pencils or paints can both be good options for doing so.
If going with colored pencils first use brown one and then lightly go over it with a yellow. With paints you can simply mix some yellow into the brown before coloring.
Finally, you can add a shadow running along the bottom of the almond. Either do this using a darker variant of the brown or lightly go over the color with a regular pencil. If you are using paints you may need to wait for them to dry before doing so.
Conclusion
This short tutorial shows how to draw an almond (without it’s shell) in four quick steps. The shape of a shelled almond is quite simple and the it’s texture doesn’t require too much effort to create so hopefully haven’t had much trouble drawing it.
